checking on classification
Since Triad isn't the Scca I figure I'd better make sure I have my truck classed correctly. I have an S-10 pickup with a v8 swap and full suspension. in the Scca its X-prep would it be classed the same with triad? also I have a battery question. I am planning to relocate my battery to the bed in a heavy steel tray (for better weight distribution) is the tray legal or do I have to use a flimsy marine box that doesn't solidly hold the battery in my experience. the tray will be mounted with 6 grade8 3/8 bolts and is welded by a military certified welder. the battery will be held in place by two 7/16 all thread bolts going through a 1/4 plate centered on the long side of the battery with nylock nuts. its way overkill but the v8 put 110lb on the front axle and took 70 off the rear.

Would be XP here as we follow the SCCA classings.

Battery relocation sounds fine to me, but I'll let one of our Tech gurus chime in.

yup XP ,,,and the battery will be fine as long as it cant move and the positive lead has an insulating cover so it cant ground against anything.

fantastic the 80lb battery tray is a go

The battery tray should be fine, since it will be in the bed and not in the car.
The Marine style case is more for lead acid batteries that sit in the same compartment as the driver. For example you relocate the battery to the trunk on a car, you wouldn't need a case. Now, if you relocated it to the passengers seat area, then I would require a cover for it.
If it is a dry battery such as a AGM or Li-Fe , I don't care where you put it, as long as it is secure.
