It suited me and my car very well. Not that I was any where near the fastest, or that I couldn't have done a little better, but I was having fun. :D

Tim and I went to Dan River Grand Prix in Danville after the novice school so I could drop something off to someone, and we ended up staying and doing a few races and had a blast. So, since we've got some time to plan it this time, I want to get some of us together and go back with more people to race with.

As luck would have it, NCR has an event in town at VIR that weekend, and some of the corner workers and stewards like DRGP as well. I've already talked to a friend that will be flagging at VIR about organizing a little "AutoX vs Club Race" showdown, and she's actually already a step ahead of me.

So...

Saturday 5/12/2012 @ 7pm
Dan River Grand Prix
2855 Riverside Drive
Danville, VA 24540-4117
http://www.danrivergp.com/index.shtml

It's straight down 58 from the airport and literally right across the street from the Mexican place we ate at last time. And given Triad's penchant for Mexican food, I get the odd feeling we might be there again this Saturday. ;) Come out, get some seat time, hang out with old friends and maybe make some new ones.

Also, as we learned last time, if you have your own helmet (closed face ONLY), bring it. If you have to use one of theirs, they'll charge you for a headsock to go with it.

Der Schuh Syndikat - a Z3/M Coupe Gathering

For those that haven't heard yet, I am organizing the first ever East Coast meeting of Z3/M Coupes here in Charlotte on July 6-8, 2012..

The event is called "Der Schuh Syndikat". The unique German name pays homage to a major European BMW event: BMW Syndikat-Asphaltfieber, which takes place every year near Obermehler, Germany. http://www.syndikat-asphaltfieber.de . Ironically, and totally coincidentally, Der Schuh Syndikat 2012 meet is taking place on the same weekend as the German event.

The “Drive for 65” is an active effort to set a new record for a coupe gathering. 65 Z3/M Coupes in one location has never happened; at least not since leaving the factory. Dorkfest (a similar meet on the West Coast) is also trying to break this record later this summer. So a friendly East-vs-West challenge is underway.

Other BMW owners are welcome to attend, but the event will be focused on the coupes. There is a full weekend planned, and its going to be awesome!

Registration for the event will open in a week or two.
What I need is your help finding other Coupe owners. If you know anyone who owns one of these cars- please tell them about this meet.

http://www.SchuhSyndikat.org

or friend request "Der Schuh Syndikat" on Facebook

I am selling a few items from my racing simulator setup.

GT Revolution GTR01 - $250

Review: http://www.livesockets.com/article.php?id=1606
I'm not sure if they sell these anymore. I bought it directly from the Chinese manufacturer for $388 about 2.5 years ago. It comes with the frame, seat, monitor stand (good for up to 32" with standard VESA mounting) as well as the G25/G27 compatible pedal, wheel, and shifter mounts. The shifter mount was also re-enforced by welding the bracket together by a friend because it was a weak design and might have sheared off with the constant force applied when shifting. Otherwise the whole thing has held up really well over the years, and the only reason I'm wanting to upgrade is for triple-screen support. I'm sure this one could be modified for triple monitors by a skilled metal craftsman, but I do not possess those skills. I'm looking for around $250 for the chassis with monitor stand and seat. Just add PC or game console, wheel & pedals, and monitor and you have a racing simulator.

Hanns-G 28" LCD monitor - $200
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824254026
28", 3ms response time, and 1920x1200 resolution. HDMI and VGA inputs, and adapters are included that support DVI and component connections also. Black levels aren't great so I wouldn't want to watch a movie on it, but for gaming it looks fine and the low response time is good. The larger-than-1080p resolution also means it has a ton of screen real-estate which would be good for use as a general desktop screen. I paid $299 for it, I'm looking for around $200. I've got all the cables and the original box and manual. It's also in warranty through September 2012.
